The humble hanger has come a long way. Today, hangers come according to various clothes types, various closet sizes, even for specific closet woes. If picked smartly, the right hangers can help save a ton of space, make everything easy to reach, and make your closet look super neat. The problem is, there’s a lot of choices out there. And it can get a bit confusing on which hangers you actually need to invest in. Which why, after careful research, trial and error, I’ll be breaking down the Best Hangers for your closet in 2024.
Over the course of my recent wardrobe reset, I did a deep dive on how to make the most of closet hangers.
In this post, I’ve categorized these hanger types so you can understand their function and use case, and eventually make an informed buying decision. I’ve also divided this list into two parts: hangers that I feel are must haves and those which are just nice to have.
Overall, this list of the best, most helpful hangers that can help maximize your closet space, save you time and simplify your life.
All that with just a hanger? Oh yes.
Because sometimes small changes can make the biggest impact.
Must Have
Space Saving Pant Hanger
Super nifty because this can hang multiple pants in one hanger, then folds in to just take the space of one hanger.
You can even use this multifunctional pants hanger to hang leggings and scarves. Overall, a total winner.
Space Saving Overall Hanger
This hanger works similar to the pants hanger, in that it can store multiple items in very little space.
The only difference is that you can even store shirts in this, or anything, really. It basically has slots so you can hook up multiple hangers in one.
Once slotted, the hangers can fold into one single vertical file.
The only downside: Doesn’t work very well if you hand multiple heavy items
Anti-slip Hangers
This one’s a classic example of how a small, smart change can help reduce physical (and mental) clutter.
These velvet hangers keep your clothes firmly in place. No more dresses slipping into a cesspool of compounding mess.
Works best for: Dresses/blouses/shirts and anything in flowy fabrics (like silks and chiffons).
Bag Hanger
This one is so neat I had to put it in the must-have list. One hanger that can store multiple bags and keep them protected – all at once.
Contains clear sleeves for each handbag so everything is visible at one glance. Easy to pull out and slide bags back in.
The downside: Can’t hold your big totes
Tie Hanger
Truth is, ties need a home, just for themselves.
Because if they don’t, they can slip and sneak into random places in your closet – becoming one of the prime causes of mess.
A tie hanger keeps them all neat, visible and prevents them from slipping out.
Plus, this wooden one from Amazon looks pretty cute too.
Nice to Have
Scarf Hanger
This metal scarf hanger can be a good option if you have a lot of flowy scarves and no real home for them.
Stores multiple. Keeps them in one place. Keeps them visible. What’s not to like?
Color Coded Hangers
One of those aesthetic solutions that actually has great functionality.
You can use these coloured hangers to categorize between type of clothes, frequency of wear, occasions – basically unleash the Monica in you.
And look, how cute!
Belt Hanger
No more belts sliding off of hanger rods and cropping up everywhere.
This single belt hanger can stack up to 24 belts in a small space.
Bonus: Even comes in a cute rose gold shade.
Leggings Hanger
Do you really need a hanger just for your leggings? Probably not.
But if you’re someone who has just a lot of pairs and you’d like to keep your everyday gym leggings visible and easy-to-grab, this legging hanger might be a good option for you.
This one hangs multiple in one and cleverly uses the depth of your closet to maximize space.
Bra Hanger
Not the biggest fan of this one personally, but this bra hanger has a cult following. And for good reason.
It’s great for people who have less drawer space and excess hanging space.
The good thing about this is that it keeps your padded bras from getting all squished up and spoiled.
Holds multiple at one, keeps them easy to find and grab.
Skirt Hanger
Another one that’s definitely not a must-must have, but if you have a tiny closet, this skirt hanger can actually save you a ton of space.
Especially, if you have several pairs of skirts.
Holds multiple. Takes the space of one. Pretty nifty, really.
Travel Hanger
First, a hug to whoever came up with this.
This travel hanger is foldable and super-compact and folds out into two sizes (one for adult clothes and another for kids clothes).
Now you can easily hang up your dresses and dress shirts and keep them from getting all crumply – even in an AirBnb.
And that’s it. The best hangers for your buck to make your closet tidy this year.
I hope you found this list helpful. If you need help figuring out which clothes are best hung and which are better folded,
I’ve done a deeper dive in another article, where I also share a cheat sheet on which clothes to hang and which to fold.
