Ahh those pesky pan lids! You’ll always see one floating about where it shouldn’t be. And then, when you really need it – it’ll have just disappeared from sight. Fact is, when it comes to storing pots and pan lids – the struggle is very real. So, if you’re still looking for ways to organize your pot lids – ideas that actually work – you’re going to want to read on.

For the longest time, I used to slot all my pots and pan lids together, upright against the cabinet wall – pretending it’s good enough. But pull one out and the rest would fall like domino chips. The knobby-wobbies would always come in the way and I never could get them to stay put.

When I recently reorganized my pots and pans, I finally learnt the hard way, that until I give my lids a functional, practical, dedicated spot – I’m only going to be creating reasons for future mess (and stress).

So I did a bit of research, and picked a storage solution that was tailor made for my needs and space. Your kitchen and your needs will be different from mine. And there’s more than one way to organize your pot lids.

So, In this blog post I’m going to be sharing the best, most practical ways to store your pot lids – that don’t break the bank. I’ll also break down the pros and cons of each so you can pick a method that best suits your lifestyle.

Hook Them Up for Good

This clever little hack from The Kitchn, is a cost-effective way to give your lids a home.

All you need is two command hooks per lid, stick them on the inside of your cabinet door and slot the lid in.

You will need to measure and mark so you know how many lids you can fit into a single cabinet door.

A nifty way to organize your pot lids – once and for all.

Pro: Cheap and effective, don’t take cabinet space

Con: You’ll probably be able to slot 2-3 lids per door so you need to use more cabinet doors

Slot Them in a Lid Organizer

Add a slotted rack or a lid organizer to your existing cabinet. This one is my go-to method. I even organized the lids of my storage boxes this way.

Each lid gets a dedicated slot, everything is visible and is easy to grab. You can add a simple plate rack, or a slot-adjustable & expandable lid organizer (similar to the one I use) that you can keep customizing to the thickness and space you need for each lid.
