Does your bedroom keep getting messy? Maybe it’s time you made a few changes. These thoughtful bedroom organization ideas will inspire you to tidy up your sanctuary for good. So you can start the new year with a clear space and an even clearer head!
Here’s the thing about bedrooms. Clutter always piles up.
And then there is ‘THE CHAIR’.
The dreaded dumping ground for clothes that aren’t dirty enough for the laundry basket and aren’t clean enough for the closet.
If you have this chair, congratulations. You’re normal.
If you don’t – you’re most definitely a cybernetic organism with living tissue over a metal endoskeleton (IYKYK).
Seriously though – the bedroom is a clutter magnet.
Clothes, random jewelry, cosmetics – things always tend to float around.
Over the years, I’ve figured that the root cause of this clutter is often a lack of well-placed storage solutions.
Once you decide that everything in your bedroom needs a dedicated storage spot, and have that storage spot placed NEAR THE ORIGIN OF THAT SPECIFIC CLUTTER – you’re golden.
This could simply mean adding a tray to your nightstand so you have a place to keep your jewelry before you take it off for the night.
Stuff like that.
So in this post, I’m going to share my favourite thoughtfully placed storage solutions and bedroom organization ideas – so you can get inspired and tidy up for 2025!
Let’s go!
Add a Storage Bench at the Foot of Your Bed
You can use the storage in the bed to stash extra cushions, bed linen – even the clothes (that used to be on ‘THE CHAIR’)
We won’t tell if you don’t!
Add Nightstands with Ample Storage
This is a bedroom basic, but can be really effective in curbing lose clutter.
Instead of keeping your lotions and eye creams out in the open, you can store them out of sight it in your nightstand drawers.
Reduces visual clutter, gives you a handy surface to keep your everyday items like a book, a lamp, lip balm etc.
This cute, fluted nightstand from Amazon even comes with a nifty built-in charging station.
Add Corner Baskets for Blankets and Extra Cushions
If you don’t want to invest in a storage bench – you can just keep cute baskets around the corner of your bedroom.
Use it to store blankets, extra cushions – even as a laundry hamper.
Keep a Freestanding Coat Rack
Another way to solve for that dump of clothes on a chair.
Just hang ’em. Looks neat. And you don’t even break a sweat.
Install Hooks for Easy Access
Necklaces, clothes, bags, umbrellas – hooks are great for hanging your everyday essentials.
Keep Catch-all Trays on Open Surfaces
This is a bedroom organization hack that is super simple, yet ingenious.
Catch all trays on surfaces like your nightstand or your vanity can really help the appearance of clutter.
Use them to stow any loose stuff like jewelry, lip balms, watches etc.
Invest in A Storage Bed
My husband convinced me to get a storage bed.
And boy, do I thank him every day.
You get so much more added storage for hardly any extra space.
I use it to shash my out of season clothes and bed linen.
Get Under-bed Storage Bins
If you don’t have a storage bed – you can still use your under-bed area to stack out of season clothes, toys, linen etc.
Simply get a under-bed storage bag (like above) and you’re good to go.
Start File Folding Your Clothes
I have ranted on and on about this on my blogs on closet organization.
File folding can change your life.
It can reduce the clutter in your closet and, by corollary, your bedroom hugely.
Unlike piles, you don’t end up messing up your other clothes when you pull something out.
A simple change that can go miles.
Organize & Keep Your Bags Visible
Bags need a home. Otherwise they can add to random clutter in your bedroom.
But how do you organize your bags?
Turns out there are tons of different ways.
Pick the one that suits you the best from my article on purse organization.
Arrange Your Jewelry in Trays
Felt trays are a great way to keep your jewelry segregated and organized (instead of it lying strewn around in your bedroom).
Add Drawer Dividers for Your Dresser and Vanity
Clear drawer trays and dividers can help stuff from rolling around and keep things tidy.

Add a Rotating Rack for Your Vanity
A rotating organizer is a great addition for your vanity specially if you have less space.
This one from amazon can hold a lot – even your taller bottles.
Hook Up An Over the Door Organizer
Great for your closet door or your bedroom door – an over the door organizer can help store stuff that doesn’t have a dedicated home.
Umbrellas, tissues, even shoes – anything you need to get out of the way.
Just a simple bedroom organization idea that hardly takes up space.
Add a (Small) Dresser
Adding a small dresser to your bedroom or your closet is another way to increase your storage and keep things organized.
Slot in A Bedside Caddy
If you have a small bedroom and not enough space for a full-blown nightstand – consider adding a bedside caddy.
It wedges under your mattress and gives you a nifty storage spot for your book, glasses, remotes etc.
Add Floating Shelves for Everyday Essentials
Floating shelves are a great storage and organization hack pretty much everywhere.
In the bedroom, particularly – you can use them to store everyday books, art, plants and even your sunglass collection!
